Ophthalmic Technician position available in a four Doctor Ophthalmology practice in North Potomac. No nights, no Saturdays, Monday - Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Previous Ophthalmic Tech experience required. COA/COT a plus but not required.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Ophthalmic Technician:
- Assists the physicians with patient care and clinical flow
- Assists physicians with minor in office procedures
- Takes patient histories and performs technical work-ups and special tests
- Efficiently documents all pertinent information in patient records via EMR system
- Communicates with patients regarding follow-up care, pre and post-operative care, testing, etc.
- Contact Lens Instruction
- Maintains, stocks and cleans all rooms and equipment
Accurately performs the following:
- Visual acuity measurements near and far, with and without glasses
- Obtaining Eye glass information manually or via automated lensometry
- Ocular motility screening
- Auto and manifest refraction proficiency a plus.
- Auto refractions with glare testing
- Intraocular pressure tonometry
- OCT
- Visual Fields
- A Scan
- Pentacam
- Pachymetry
- Amsler Grid
- Ishihara and/or HRR color vision testing
Requirements for the Ophthalmic Technician:
- High school education required. Specialized Ophthalmic Training and Certification a plus (COT, COA)
- Two or more years experience as an Ophthalmic Technician
