JOB TITLE: Trauma Registrar
CONTRACT DURATION: 13 weeks
SHIFT: Monday-Friday 8:00a- 5:00p
LOCATION: Washington, DC
ONBOARDING TIME: Expect 3-5 weeks from offer acceptance to start date.

Job description
1. Collects disease specific data composed of uniform data elements that describes the injury event, demographics, pre-hospital information, diagnosis, care, outcomes and costs of treatment to the trauma patients.
2. Assists the Trauma Division in performance improvement and patient safety (PIPS) program by running specific reports from the Trauma Registry that reviews care provided to patients and to identify variations in the processes and outcomes for groups of trauma patients. Ensures that the data populating the trauma registry is accurate, valid and reliable as possible.
3. Collects and maintains statistical data for the hospital's trauma services including trauma registry. Generate standard and custom reports in a timely fashion.
4. Represents the trauma service at the Multidisciplinary Trauma Service meetings and survey activities.
5. Reviews software available from vendors to run on personal computers devoted to trauma services and trauma registry activities. Ensures new software is compatible with existing systems and ensures that trauma service operating protocols are accommodated.
6. Orients division personnel on the use of trauma service computer software, including operating system commands and procedures to obtain trauma service information.
7. Participates in the establishment and implementation of the trauma services budget.
8. Investigates incidents and/or problems relating to trauma registry. Assesses daily admission procedures for trauma patients to ensure proper identification is attained and to ensure that trauma protocols are initiated. Participates in activities to enhance technical and professional growth.
Requirements
-***MUST HAVE TRAUMA REGISTRAR EXPERIENCE***
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems or a related healthcare field
-Completed the American Trauma Society’s Trauma Registrar Course or equivalent provided by a state trauma program.
-Minimum two years of experience in data entry, emergency, trauma or critical care settings.
-Certification by the American Trauma Society’s Registrar Certification Board, with a designation of certified specialist in trauma registries (CSTR) or Certified Abbreviated Injury Scale Specialist (CAISS), required or must be able to obtain certification within 6 months of employment.
