The position is responsible for implementation of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) education / prevention programs including education to clinic patients, staff, volunteers, and the community.
Under the general supervision of the Director of Ryan White & Prevention, this individual is responsible for providing testing, counseling, and referral/linkage services both in-house and at off-site venues where testing is conducted. The HIPP Testing Specialist is responsible for conducting prevention counseling, testing and post-test counseling for HIV and other STI?s as defined by agency goals. The specialist will be trained using a variety of rapid and conventional tests.
- Provides HIV/AIDS/STD prevention services, testing and counseling, and behavioral interventions
- Performs HIV and STD testing ensuring that all laboratory forms are correctly completed, and accurate results are provided to all clients. Ensures quality standards for testing and counseling are maintained through the completion of appropriate documentation and compliance standards.
- Helps to identify specific settings or venues in which high-risk populations can be accessed
- Coordinates outreach activities and special community events related to the program under the direction of the Director of Harm Reduction
- Ensures that all necessary reports and documentation are collected and submitted to the appropriate entities in a timely and efficient manner
- Attends trainings, conferences, and meetings, as requested by the department director
- Assists clients with scheduling follow-up appointments with medical providers and make referrals to programs as appropriate
