Job Title: General Manager
FLSA Status: Exempt/Salaried
Reports to: CEO
Essential Functions:
The General Manager will oversee all aspects of the dispensary’s operations, ensuring compliance with state and local regulations, managing staff, optimizing customer service, and driving sales and profitability. The GM will create a welcoming environment, promote a culture of continuous improvement, and uphold the highest standards of business ethics and practices.
Operational Management:
● Training, coaching, and developing team members using Core Values as guiding principles, including training team members in excellent customer service.
● Maintaining security systems and overseeing the well-being of staff and customers.
● Performing inventory audits and reconciliation.
● Compiling the daily menu, making sure products are available on the online menu.
● Accurately managing cannabis packages in Dutchie and Metrc.
● Processing deliveries of cannabis and non-cannabis items.
● Complete understanding of all state and local laws and Cannabis Control Commission regulations.
● Participating in ongoing education, community outreach, and professional development as needed.
● Coordinating with vendors for product demonstrations and staff training.
● Prepare monthly reporting package on key metrics at the direction of CEO.
● Attend meetings with CEO to discuss short-term objectives/action items and long-term strategic goals.
● Review and update customer educational materials, making sure necessary documents are available.
● Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and feedback promptly and professionally.
● Manage the dispensary’s budget, monitor expenses, and ensure profitability.
● Implement cost-control measures without compromising quality and service.
Staff Management:
● Schedule staff to ensure optimal coverage and manage payroll.
● Develop and lead weekly manager meetings and daily staff meetings before each shift.
● Lead training and development to ensure all dispensary agents greet customers with a helpful, pleasant, and compassionate attitude, striving to make every interaction a positive experience.
● Train and develop all team members to ensure proficiency in Flower & Soul policies and procedures as well as all state and local laws and Cannabis Control Commission regulations.
● Consistently work with team members to cross-train and develop skills to ensure continuity when openings arise. Our goal is to hire externally only for bottom-level positions.
● Ensure that all team members are trained and current on product knowledge, proper dosage, and confidentiality requirements.
● Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and implement development plans.
● Foster a collaborative and highly motivated team atmosphere.
Driving Business/Sales:
● Conduct 1-minute meetings, at the start of every shift, to ensure consistency in message and goals and to highlight new products.
● Coach team members on upselling opportunities, including achieving minimum basket size and daily sales goals.
● Develop periodic incentive programs for team members to drive sales.
● Oversee shift leaders on the sales floor including delegating tasks.
● Deliver excellent and compassionate customer service.
● Influence brand sales marketing strategies.
● Continually evaluate new vendors and products to keep menu fresh on a quarterly basis.
● Ensure menu has an array of different levels of product based on quality and price.
● Conduct competitive analysis using data analytics tools in consultation with CEO.
● Analyze sales data to identify trends and opportunities for growth.
● Secure marketing partnerships with vendors to generate revenue from shelving/advertising agreements.
Operations:
● Ensure that all team members are proficient in cash handling and product protection.
● Conduct random audits of cash and/or product, using audit checklists.
● Review security procedures and protocols with all team members.
● Review incident reporting with the management team.
● Execute monthly product inventory and mock inspections.
● Act as point person on CCC inspections.
● Ensure daily balancing of cash and product is being done according to state and CCC policies.
● Conduct required monthly, quarterly, and annual inspections and reporting.
● Evaluate current processes, technology, and SOPs for efficiency and potential improvement.
● Ensure all team members are adhering to Core Values.
● Implement and participate in community outreach programs, building relationships with community leaders and cultivating trust from our neighbors.
● Responsible for maintaining store aesthetics according to Flower & Soul brand including music selection and store cleanliness.

Job Qualifications and Education:
● Must be 21 years old.
● Previous GM experience required.
● Experience managing financials.
● 2-4 years of experience training, developing, and mentoring teams.
● 5-7 years of experience in retail management managing a diverse team.
● Experience in cannabis retail required, including point of sale and inventory management.
● The position may require working evenings, weekends, and holidays.
● Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check.
● Must possess a valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation.
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
● Computer skills including Microsoft office and Google Docs.
● Possess good organizational and decision-making skills.
● Analytical, detail-oriented, and proactive.
● Desire to improve skill set and willingness to learn and take feedback and coaching.
● Continuous mobility through the dispensary daily including, but not limited to, standing, stooping, kneeling, and crouching throughout the shift.
● Ability to lift 50 pounds.
