Lead Plant Operator: Job Description
Liquid Environmental Solutions seeks a dedicated Lead Plant Operator to join our team!
As a Lead Plant Operator, you will oversee the daily operations of our wastewater treatment facility. Your primary responsibilities include treating wastewater, ensuring water quality meets regulatory standards, and coordinating the release of treated water to city treatment works. You will play a pivotal role in maintaining environmental health and safety.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operational Leadership: Supervise plant operations, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to safety protocols.
- Decision Making: Make informed decisions regarding process adjustments to optimize treatment efficiency and maintain compliance.
- Chemical Handling: Mix and add wastewater chemicals as required for treatment processes.
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on plant machinery, including diaphragm and centrifugal pumps.
- Environmental Compliance: Monitor and ensure compliance with environmental regulations and company policies.
- Safety Procedures: Enforce strict adherence to safety guidelines and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Team Collaboration: Foster a collaborative environment, supporting team members and promoting a culture of safety and efficiency.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Reporting: Maintain accurate records and prepare reports on plant operations and compliance activities.
- Training: Train new operators on plant procedures and safety protocols.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, & Ability Requirements:
- Leadership Experience: Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience in a related field.
- Mechanical Aptitude: Proficient in mechanical skills such as equipment maintenance, tool usage, and troubleshooting.
- Team Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with team members for operational success.
- Decision-Making Skills: Capable of making sound decisions under pressure to ensure efficient plant operations.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities to troubleshoot operational issues effectively.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent (Required).
- Two (2) years of experience as a Plant Operator, with demonstrated leadership responsibilities (Preferred).
- Experience in wastewater treatment or similar industrial environment (Preferred).
Work Environment:
- Physically demanding environment involving lifting, climbing, and bending.
- Exposure to strong odors and potential contact with wastewater.
- Ability to work in varied weather conditions (hot, cold, wet).
- Additional Responsibilities:
- Team Development: Mentor and coach team members to enhance their skills and knowledge in plant operations.
Minimum Requirement:
- Leadership Experience: Minimum of 2 years of direct leadership experience in an industrial or plant operation setting.
- Operational Strategy: Develop and implement strategies to optimize plant efficiency, including resource allocation and workflow management.
